Port Vale: Pre-match odds ahead of Vale's clash with Chesterfield

Friday, March 12, 2010, 09:00

ONLY one side – League Two leaders Rochdale – have lost fewer away games than Port Vale, whose late pursuit of a play-off berth takes them to Chesterfield tomorrow where they start as 888Sport's 9/2 underdogs.

The Spireites beat Vale 2-1 last month and this result, coupled with their elevated league position, accounts for their 4/5 odds-on price (Jaxx.com).

Chesterfield have won the last four meetings between these sides, but if Vale can shed their inconsistencies, Betdaq's 13/5 for tomorrow's duel to end in a draw is worth a look. Totesport price a 1-1 draw at 11/2, while punters expecting a close encounter may fancy Betfred's 11/10 for Vale to win when handed a goal start or Victor Chandler's 4/1 for both halves to finish all square.
